Welcome to Abacus, a blog dedicated to providing accountants with practical tools and advice on work, career, and technology. 

A little while ago I decided I needed an answer to a fairly simple question on an Accounting issue I was working on.  I did my usual; I put my question out on a search engine and awaited the results.  I did find my answer, but it was fairly technical and from the usual suspects.

I then looked out on the web for a site that had a more down to earth; working person, feel to it.  I found sites that covered news, or politics, or were the technical type that I got my answer from.

So I decided that perhaps there may be a better way, and Abacus was born.  Over the next few months I will be gathering links to a variety of sites that will provide access to Accounting news, and technical information. 

I will also be providing articles on topics I feel will help us do our jobs better, look at our careers, or just help you feel good. 

I chose a blog to do this as it allows an instant way to get the message out, but more importantly it allows for comments to be posted.  So feel free to add your comments, suggestions, and questions and I will try to answer to the best of my ability.

For now, consider this blog as a work in progress and watch for new articles and links to be added.
